Mike wanted to be a drummer, but his
parents voted a resounding 'NO' and a saxophone player was borne. At 15,
deciding that guitar was infinitely more appealing to girls, the change was
made. (Sorry Harv, no offense) Mike has been playing and performing as a guitar
player for the last 23 years.
Initially his focus was on the "hair metal" scene, but a love of music means no
boundaries and many other genres have been studied and incorporated into his
style. Jake E. Lee, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Zakk Wylde, Brian May and Joe Satriani
have all been major influences. Mike also found added diversity while teaching
the instrument for several years (who knew 60 year old women wanted to learn
Skynyrd?).
He spent the mid eighties to late 90's performing across New York state and
Pennsylvania. The list of former bands includes:
Nemesis
Messiah Prophet
AKA
Deaf Dumb and Blonde
Stiletto
Kid Gloves
Tongue N Groove
Falter
Some of the bands opened for larger acts like Slaughter, 38 Special, and Vince
Neil.
Mike writes and records in his home studio and actively seeks collaboration with
anyone willing to endure the writing process and his obsession with detail. The
hair spray, makeup and spandex pants are all (happily) retired. He did
eventually get a drum set, but alas, that instrument is harder to play
proficiently than it looks.
Mike prefers Dean guitars and Line6 amplification, but has more musical gear
than he knows what to do with (or will admit to).
